Introducing Advocacy Alliance
Friday 17th March
Advocacy Alliance is a voluntary organisation, established in 1990 to provide free, independent and confidential advocacy to empower individuals and enable them to have their voice heard. It involves a small team of staff and volunteers who manage and develop advocacy throughout the area. We are a registered charity based in Scarborough but cover a wide area across North Yorkshire including Filey, Whitby and Ryedale.
We aim to ensure that people, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society, are able to:
- Have their voice heard on issues that are important to them
- Defend and safeguard their rights
- Have their views and wishes genuinely considered when decisions are being made about their lives
Advocacy is a process of supporting and enabling people to:
- Express their views and concerns
- Access information and services
- Defend and promote their rights and responsibilities
- Explore choice and options
