Football supporters show spirit of Christmas

Chairman Ivor Homer and Commercial Manager Paul Connolly met with Chris Taylor from Whitby Food Bank on a chilly morning to hand over supporter donations ahead of Christmas.

The football club also topped up the amount with a substantial food donation, to help support those most in need in the local community.

The club expressed their thanks to all supporters who donated to the Food Bank and described their generosity as ‘outstanding as ever’.

Supporters were able to make donations at recent games against Hyde Unitedand Matlock Town. Opportunities to donate were not limited to just those two match days with a facility to donate being available any day through the week at the Towbar Express Stadium.

The football club is proud to support the community of Whitby and the surrounding area and are a great example to the sport.

Whitby Town Commercial Manager Paul Connolly said: “As a football club, the community that we serve is of the utmost importance to us.

“We’re coming up to a difficult time of year for so many people, made worse by the ever-increasing cost of living, so as a club our time to step up has come to help those most in need across Whitby and the surrounding area.

“We appreciate that not everybody will be in a position to donate – and that’s fine. The cost of living crisis has affected so many people, but any donation, be it one item, or several, will be massively appreciated by everyone at both Whitby Town and Whitby Food Bank.

“Over the years, the generosity of the supporters and people involved with the club when it comes to things like this has been second to none. I am certain that, as always, the Blues fans will do everything they can once again to help those who need it.”
